"Competitive golf is played mainly on a five and a half inch course, the space between your ears." -- Bobby Jones

Susan,

Thanks for your help with my golf game. I put down some of my feelings and thoughts about what has transpired with my game using your tapping technique.

Like most all golfers I'm always looking for the latest tip to help me negotiate a round of golf with more success than the last round, regardless of my score. When I heard you wanted to talk about golfing, and perhaps providing some new tools, I was very curious about what you had to offer.

I must tell you that I believe there is something very important into the mental approach the golf game, more so than in any other sport. The only movement in the game is provided totally by you, the player. We have a lot of time to think between shots, our minds tend to wander into some bad places when we are between shots, thinking about a missed shot, a ball hit into the water the last time you played a particular hole, or having trouble getting out of the sand bunker, or hitting a ball out of bounds, just name a few.

Golf can be a very emotional game, the joy, Oh, the joy of hitting a great shot, you feel as though you're on top of the world. Then there's that dark side, full of negative feelings, fear, anger, and frustration that comes with bad shots. Thinking of where you don't want to hit the ball instead of where you want the ball to end up.

The tapping instruction you provided has really helped my game. I believe I can now overcome the negative thoughts or at least control them when I'm playing badly or having a bad round. I can now get in tune with myself and 1) determine what it is I'm feeling that is interfering with my game 2) turn the negative thoughts off and tap, literally, into my inner self, which allows my game to come back around to where I'm playing well again within a few holes. There is something inside me that slows way down when I tap, it keeps me right in the moment for the shot I'm about to execute, instead of focusing on what my score will be if I par or make bogey on that hole. The tapping keeps me from playing against my playing partners and myself, and allows me to play against the course stroke by stroke with some positive thoughts, feelings, and visualizations.

I believe breaking 80 is an obtainable goal this summer, I've gotten close twice already, and I believe shooting par, scratch, is an obtainable goal with in the near future.

Thanks again.
